Foster Farrar True Value is a reliable one-stop destination for all your hardware, locksmith, and home goods needs in Northampton, MA. Located at 145 King St, this establishment offers a variety of products and services to meet the diverse requirements of both residential and commercial customers. Whether you're looking for tools, appliances, gardening supplies, or locksmith assistance, Foster Farrar True Value has something for everyone.

The store is well-known for its extensive selection of hardware items, including nuts, bolts, screws, and other essential materials for DIY projects and repairs around the house. As a locksmith service provider, Foster Farrar True Value is equipped to handle all your locking needs. From repairing locks to creating new keys, their skilled professionals are ready to assist you with any lock-related issues. However, recent customer feedback highlights some areas where the store could improve its services, particularly in terms of customer communication and staff interaction.

One customer shared an experience where they encountered resistance when trying to explain a simple repair need involving a key fob. Despite their clear explanation, the staff seemed uninterested and dismissive. This lack of empathy and poor communication reflects a broader issue within the store's customer service approach. Another customer highlighted how the staff appeared disengaged and unwilling to assist unless directly prompted, which detracts from the overall shopping experience.

Despite these challenges, many customers appreciate the store's wide range of products and its commitment to serving the local community. The establishment's extended hours, including Sunday openings from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, make it a convenient option for busy individuals looking to complete their errands on weekends.

Foster Farrar True Value also offers promotional deals and discounts to reward loyal customers. Their "Beat the Competition" promotion allows customers to receive matching or better prices on items purchased elsewhere, adding value to your shopping experience.

Came in to the store today. Showed the locksmith my key fob, explained I only needed the plastic cover. He said I needed to have the entire key replaced and cut, that the key is attached to the plastic fob. I explained my fob was different and that I just needed the plastic case that I have moved the key and the electronics over before in my other key fob with no issues.I offered to show him, he kept repeating the key is part of the plastic and that I didn't know what I was talking about. I get that he is a locksmith, but why wouldn't you at least look at what I was trying to show him? I was willing to take my key apart and show him..he just repeated, "Nope, it's all one piece". Again, I tried to tell him mine was not like that. "Wouldn't you like locksmith to cut a new key", he stated. I told him again, my key was fine, just need the plastic case and did they sell just a plastic case. It would have been fine for him to not believe me, he's a locksmith, but I was standing right there and offered to unscrew it but he just went around the counter and repeated again, that's not how they are made. I informed him I have four just like it (2 different Honda cars) at home and I've replaced two others with just a plastic case by moving the metal key part and electronics over to the new plastic case. Picture of my key below, with open case and key easily removed. Don't need to pay for a key cut. Going to order a part off Amazon I guess as they are unable or unwilling (?) to help me. Best part is as I was leaving he turned to the other gentlemen there and said, "Go figure". Never bothered to look and see what I was talking about, just willing to imply I had no idea what I was talking about. At least look if nothing else to show me that I was wrong... Or learning something new. Horrible customer service.

Young cashier in her 20s with short hair acted as if I wasn't even there. Went in and waited behind another customer and when it was my turn to come up she decided to take her 15 min break. That's no problem but I was the only customer waiting so I felt like she could've helped me out (literally just need to be pointed to the key room) but if not she could've communicated to me and let me know someone would be able to help me shortly at least. As she was walking around the front of the counter to leave another customer walks in the shop and stands to my left. She proceeds to ask them if they need any help, looks me right in my eyes, and walks him to the product he was asking for. Like I was invisible. The person replacing her walks up, gets the computer ready and just sits back on the counter. I had to walk up to him and ask for help... customer service here really needs to be improved.

We have a rental property in the area that we had to do some yard maintenance on. When I went to use the lawn tractor I found that a mouse had chewed through the spark plug wire. No place around to get a new magneto and spark plug wire. I had no idea how or if a spark plug wire could be spliced. I went to Foster Farrar to look for some help and advice, knowing that they had a reputation as being a place where you could find hard to get objects for the house and having a knowledgeable staff. I presented my problem to a gentleman there. He had never spliced a spark plug wire before either and also wasn't sure what to do. However he took the items that I had, figured it out and provided me the parts needed. Thank you unnamed gentleman, and Foster Farrar. I highly recommend you for anyone looking for a hardware store and home repair help and advice in the Northampton area.

I'm not a fan of rating places like this. This is a solid neighborhood hardware store much like it's neighbor in Florence. They have an impressive selection of neighborhood hardware store stuff. You're not going to go here to get wood You're not going to go here to get appliances but if you know what they have you know why you love them. All I would say is wander their aisles and decide whether you want to drive to Hadley.
