Staff were rude and the items were extremely expensive. I asked where the paper towels were and the guy just smirked at me and then when I found what I wanted and put it on the counter they insisted I wait because they serve men before women. I left and will never return. There is a much better hardware store between 106th and 107th street on Broadway. I went there and the exact same items were 4 to 5 dollars less and I the guy who worked there was pleasant and didn't prefer to help men over women.

This store has been a huge help in doing our apartment repairs for their large variety of products on both floors, and I get most if not all my houseplant supplies here. But unfortunately, I've gone there many many times recently to find a shuttered store with not even a note or explanation for the late opening, and I have to echo the others that the one time I went for a door lock, the locksmith seemed to never be there or always have 'just gone on break'. I went there today for some last minute insulation tape an hour after they are supposed to be open and found it still locked with no signs there was even anyone in the process of opening. I wish this place was more reliable, or at least had accurate hours listed. I always try to shop local, but it's hard to do that when the store isn't even open in the first place.

Very bad experience. I bought the plant saucers that were not even cheap. The guy at cashier told me that I could exchange in case they were not fitting. Today (5days later) I am returning and the person at cashier (another person) told that was not possible. He found many excuses even below the receipt it is written return within 7 days (see picture). It is always nice to support local but when they treat bad is better than going to Home Depot or Amazon. These small places will just disappear if there are not even supporting the customers. Don’t go there!

I would like to thank this store SO much for wasting my damn time. I literally called 15 minutes ago to ensure I could copy a key, an urgent task as one SHOULD have the foresight to understand. He tells me I can come until 5, wonderful! It takes me 12 minutes to walk there, and upon arrival the man at the counter tells me that the copy guy just went on an hour long break. Lovely! Thank you so much for wasting my time and energy today and I can not WAIT to never visit this place again :))) learn how to run a business i’m begging you !!!

BLUF: 2 veteran/students sold defective tools, $40 wasted, no returns allowed, apathetic customer service. Don’t bother here, just buy from Amazon. Summary: On 9/23 at approximately 4:45 - 5pm, my room mate and I purchased two 5/32 masonry bits. Ten minutes later, we used them and both immediately blunted. Went back immediately, asked for a refund, was denied by the cashier (who offered an unintelligible excuse.) Had to buy two more 5/32 (this time, Irwin “Impact Masonry Bits”) to finish simply the job, and the first blunted almost immediately, but we were barely able to finish the job with the second one. I left the receipt for the first two bits at the store, told them there’s no point in giving receipts if returns aren’t accepted. I understand “unopened” items are eligible for returns within 7 days, but what about cheap and “built to fail” items? Selling cheap tools that will break on first use and then rejecting returns feels like a scam to me. Actions taken: Not going to bother with asking for a refund—will eat the $40 cost (for all the bits), and shop off of Amazon in the future. At the very least, if I’m sold a cheap, flawed product, Amazon has a solid return policy. If small businesses want to compete, they have to operate with integrity. I simply don’t have enough time and money to go through that again—I’m a student and veteran operating on a budget.
