About 2 months ago I went to Major's and spoke to Jerry. I have been going there for many years. I had a towel rack that was attached to a bathroom tile wall that kept on coming loose. He told me that the threads for the set screws were stripped. He bored a new hole slightly larger and then created new threads for a new set screw. He charged me $2.00 for the set screw and tool to insert it, and no charge for the labor ! I had to go back again today because it came loose again. I thought it was because I may have overtightened the set screw. He could have told me that there was nothing else that could be done - but he didn't. He told me that the threads were OK and to try to turn the wall bracket upside down and try it again. It worked ! It's great to have a local store with knowledgeable friendly people, and I am very appreciative. This is definitely the place to go for advice and to purchase items. Buy local ! Chuck from Verona

terrific store, my new go-to. really friendly, feels intimate. a neighborhood shop. photo: got snow? no problem, major hardware's got you covered. children sold separately. (or probably not at all. but.. little shovels!)

This hardware store was one of the first places in town that I visited when I moved to town a year or so ago. I had a lot of little repairs and home improvements to do, so I knew I needed a place close by to rely upon. I made it my business to meet and introduce myself to the owner (Jerry) who in turn introduced me to another staff member. They welcomed me warmly to the town and the store and have been as welcoming every time that I’ve been in the store (which is probably dozens of times by now), even when it’s busy and chaotic. As an African-American male, who was moving to a town known to have some conservative views, I made it my business when I moved to this town to get out and to meet and introduce myself to people, especially local business owners. I know all too well after 50 years what it’s like to be followed around stores (regardless of the community’s political views) as if I’ve hired a personal bodyguard upon entry. I also have a teenage son who himself worries about how he’s perceived when he’s out and about (since he doesn’t wear his 4.2 HS GPA on his forehead). So I wanted to be sure when we moved to town that everyone knew that we were here and that we were going to support their businesses and I can say, without reservation, that Major Hardware has become one of my favorite businesses to patronize. I’m welcomed and superserved when I visit (not in the bodyguard sense). They always try to help me to figure out the best solution to a project or problem. In fact, Jerry the owner has even offered to come to my home after closing and give me advice about how to tackle a project!! This is why we support small businesses. It has always been worth it to me to pay a little more to make sure that these businesses survive and thrive.

It's an outstanding place that will never disappoint you. You go on thinking, I bet they won't have this, and voila. They go down one of the isles and bring back what you're looking for. Have never ever been disappointed. The people they have helping are outstanding in the knowledge area, professionalism and friendly. And if you get something that doesn't work, you can usually return it. When I need something it's easier for me to drive down a town road than go out to the big box store on the highway. Give them a shot the next time you need something, you'll be glad you did. You can also give them a call before you go.
