I a key to this place to make2 copies, after they copied it , it didn't work. When I came back for the 2nd time, the guy said he needed another key to make the copies. To all contractors near Manhattan and homeowners, DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE TO MAKE KEY COPIES. this front desk person will say that your key is bad because he's been doing this for 20 years. It's the worst hardware store ever. I will never come back here.

It says on Google Maps that this place is open, but it is locked and closed. Go somewhere else.

Ok place. The owner is slightly rude, slow, everything is expensive and they never have bags for your purchases. Tried to sell me something I didn’t want. Instead of standard. The Asian owner guy doesn’t know the difference in industrial and home either. Sigh…Try someplace else unless you have to go here.

If transforming an otherwise mundane experience into a memorable one is an attribute of a good business, Howard Supply definitely hit nail on the head (pun intended— it’s a hardware store—get it?. :) ) I needed a few odds and ends and a key copied, and was expecting to just trudge to the closest hardware store and call it a day. However, I was pleased to find that the staff was incredibly welcoming and really knew their stuff— they were kind enough to answer all of my stupid questions and make suggestions. Added bonus: everything was immaculately organized and it was super easy to find what I needed. The owner was even able to replicate a key for me that other hardware stores were unable to make properly— the company who makes my padlock is notorious for being tough to having keys that are tough to get copied correctly, and he was able to do it perfectly in a matter of minutes. In short— very highly recommended! Truly outstanding customer service. Thank you so much!!

Didn't know they moved so went to 8th avenue and saw that they moved one block away to 9th avenue. The owner know his stuff. New place feels good and clean and organized. We've been going to Howard Supply for probably 15 years. Today I needed jigsaw blades and much better to walk a block than truck over to Home Depot.
